YMCA Trinity Group demonstrates commitment to local young people at KickOff@3
YMCA Trinity Group is pleased to announce that it is the nominated charity for Suffolk KickOff@3 – a 7-a-side football tournament aimed at bringing together teenagers from across the local community, breaking down barriers through sport.
KickOff@3 is a national initiative which began in 2017. The project engages with young people through the medium of sport and music and raises awareness and funds for a range of charities across the country that promote health and wellbeing in young people.
The Suffolk event takes place on Saturday 27 April at Whitton Sports and Community Centre in Ipswich between 9am and 6pm. Young people aged 13 to 16 are being encouraged to enter a team to compete, raise money for charity and win prizes. It costs just £25 per team (max 10 players) and all funds raised from the event will go towards delivering YMCA youth services for 9 to 18-year olds in Ipswich.
At the event, YMCA Trinity Group will also be launching its ‘Designed by You’ project, which will see competition winner Chelsea, aged 15, design a unique piece of jewellery to be sold in F. Hinds the jewellers across the country later this year.
The aim of this pilot project is to help develop new skills among young people in the local community and encourage social enterprise opportunities. Designed by You will be further built on over the coming months as new products are added to the initiative.
Fiona Radnor, Programme Manager East at YMCA Trinity Group, commented: “We’re delighted to be the nominated charity for the KickOff@3 event, and are very excited to also be able to launch our new initiative Designed by You, which is all about empowering young people to try something new and build new skills.
“KickOff@3 is a fantastic event to get young people in our local community involved in what will be an extremely fun event. Here at YMCA we’re committed to supporting young people in our local community, having been present in Ipswich for over 170 years, and we’re keen to continue driving new opportunities over the coming months and years. Designed by You is just one of those new initiatives.”
Co- founder of KickOff@3 Michael Wallace added “We are delighted that we have the opportunity to work in close partnership with the YMCA Trinity Charity. Our working ethos is very similar, we wish to give young people of Ipswich a fantastic opportunity to thrive through our initiative, whilst supporting a fantastic charitable cause. #WeBelieve.”
The KickOff@3 event is organised by Suffolk Constabulary and is being supported by a number of local organisations including Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Catch22 Suffolk Positive Futures and Suffolk FA.
