The Big Climb - team fundraising challenge supporting Emmaus Suffolk

Avid Indoor Climbing, 8 Bermuda Road, Ipswich IP3 9RU. 10 am - 4 pm.

Do you love a team challenge? Can your team reach the summit? Join the charity Emmaus Suffolk for “The Big Climb” challenge. This indoor rock climbing day is all about well being and team spirit, mental agility and problem solving (no prior climbing experience or special kit required, safety guidance induction will be given and the “mountains” are all indoors!).

Thirty teams of 5 will compete to be the 'Top of the Mountain!' on Friday 27th September at Avid Indoor Climbing in Ipswich.

The Big Climb consists of 6 activities (3 bouldering* activities and 3 team building). Each one lasts 20 mins, so in one hour a team will have 1 x bouldering activity, 1 x team building activity, 1 x rest period.
* Bouldering is the term used for indoor climbing

Event Timing:
10.00 - 10.30 Registration
10.30 - 11.30 Group inductions for 50 people = 20 mins each
11.30 - 12.30 Activity Round 1
12.30 - 1.30 Activity Round 2
1.30 - 2.00 Lunch break
2.00 – 3.00 Activity Round 3
3.00 – 3.45 Tea with cake plus “Scores on the doors”

Awards will be given for:

Winning the Games – the team with the most points achieved via Activity Rounds 1 - 3.

Greatest Fundraising – the team who collectively gain the most money through their fundraising efforts.
Prize: Hamper of gifts to be split by team.

Team Spirit – the team identified on the day as having the best attitude of fun, collaboration and sustainable travel.
Prize: Meal for 5 and Goody Bag.

Refreshments are included throughout the day (tea, coffee, water. Lunch is paella freshly cooked by Leigh Catering and the day closes with more tea and cake).

Cost per team of 5 = £125 (£25 per person)
Each team member is asked to fundraise a minimum of £100 for Emmaus Suffolk (we will be sending you plenty of helpful tips don't worry!)

Closing date for teams to register is 16th Sept 2019.

Avid will require all participants to have completed a waiver prior to climbing which will be sent out via email after the closing date of 16th September 2019. All participants will need to climb within our terms and conditions covered in the waiver including no rings including wedding rings, jewellery, earrings and suitable clothing. Avid will provide suitable footwear for climbing but ask that you turn up in trainers.

Entry to the event is dependent upon all participants arriving in time for the safety briefing and induction to climbing. This will include free registration at Avid so that after this event you can return (we think you’ll grow to love this activity as much as we do!).

Climbing is great for both your physical and mental well being, working both your body and mind to their limits.

Entry: £125 per team of 5. Price includes all activities, paella lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Each team member is given a personal fundraising target of £100+
