Into The Woods – A Pirates Ball
Maui Waui sets up sail INTO THE WOODS once again, to bring you the 6th annual Pirates Ball.
Leave the stormy seas behind, fill your boots with treasure, your chests with gold and wear your finest Masks! Head down to the woods me hearties. We'll be drinking rum, making merriment, dancing and fooling till late!
Set across 2 stages and deep in the Thorington woods, Maui Waui pulls out the stops yet again to create a Pirates Ball like no other. Featuring on the main stage, Pirate Joe and the Foreign Locals, The Cabarats (From Cornwall) and Captain Flatcap plus a selection of cabaret sideshows and circus acts, on stage and within the woods.
The DJ stage is Maui Waui’s bespoke signature built wooden pirate ship with firing canons and a stunning sound system made from whiskey barrels; a sight to be seen and heard! This year we welcome in the ship Chris Liberator, Lukes Anger and Sikada.
If you have never been to the Pirates Ball, then head into the woods for a wild night of full-on Maui Waui Fun for this one night event that kicks of the festival season! But pre-book your tickets as this event is usually a sell-out!
LIVE BANDS -
Pirate Joe and the Foreign Locals
Pirate Joe is the epitome of a musical alchemist, connecting with his audience as a conductor would an orchestra, or a Captain and his loyal crew. An old soul on young shoulders, blessed with the ‘spirit of the blues’ and a voice to match, Joe is a Jack Sparrow among us, a whirlwind of creative energy, and blue is one colour you certainly won’t be feeling after a personal interaction as part of his crew.
The Cabarats bring a new musical experience to the global underground, combining traditional Balkan and Middle Eastern sounds with lively reggae and ska.
“If you want a band that’ll have you tapping your toes, bobbing your head and bouncing along then it’s The Cabarats you need. With a seamless mix of reggae folk and Balkan ska their lively, unique sound is definitely smile inducing. These talented musicians know how to put on a show and enrapture their audience.” Rosie, Executive Producer: BBC Radio Cornwall
Captain Flatcap is multi-genre, instrumental electronic dance band with influences of electro-swing, ska, funk, folk, and wields trumpet, flute, guitar, mandolin, keyboard and percussion and have supported and played with The Freestylers, A.Skillz, The Correspondents, Dutty Moonshine, Chris Tofu, Odjbox, The Electric Swing Circus, Too Many T’s, Father Funk and many more.
