The New Wolsey Theatre’s Autumn 2018 brochures have just landed and their full Autumn season is now on sale.

Including exciting musicals, gripping theatre, hilarious comedy and enchanting children’s theatre, and with over 30 shows to choose from, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Kick starting the season, from Thu 6 – Sat 22 Sep, The New Wolsey Theatre and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch co-present ONCE, winner of eight Tony Awards ® in 2012, including best musical. Telling the unforgettable story of a guy, a girl and the song that brought them together, Once is about what happens when you take chances and go for your dreams. Catch the show on its first ever regional tour.

Taking to the stage for a week long run, on this, the centenary of the First World War’s End, The Return of the Soldier is a beautiful British Chamber musical; Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art stars Matthew Kelly and David Yelland; English Touring Theatre return with their masterful adaptation of Othello; Nick Newman and Private Eye editor Ian Hislop present their funny new play about free speech, Trial By Laughter; and Alice Sebold’s world-famous novel, The Lovely Bones is adapted by award-winning playwright, Bryony Lavery.

Don’t miss this season’s ‘Catch Them While You Can’ shows, which run for one or two nights only. This season includes music from the likes of Shakatak, An Evening With Marvin Gaye, and the return of OperaUpClose, as well as entertaining theatre in Withering Looks, H G Wells The Time Machine and Wisdom of a Fool, and rib-tickling comedy at Duke’s Comedy Club! Plus, catch new and exciting work fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with this season’s Pulse Presents offering.

There’s also plenty to the keep the family entertained as quirky original shows join well-loved titles across the New Wolsey Theatre and Studio spaces. With four fab shows for little ones aged 3+, including The Snail and The Whale, quality comedy and theatre for ages 6+, and a fun filled family Christmas show, The Ballad of Rudy, there are plenty of opportunities for all ages to get involved.

And who could forget this year’s rock ‘n’ roll panto, taking it back to where it call began in Cinderella! Running from Thu 29 Nov 2018 to Sat 2 Feb 2019, the classic rock’n’roll panto, with a hint of soul, is written by Peter Rowe and performed by a multi-talented cast of actor-musicians. Rock, pop and soul classics include It’s Raining Men, In The Midnight Hour, Try and Little Tenderness, and many more!
